Youth & Young Adult Ministry

The Youth Ministry is focused on providing Christian experiences, religious instruction and fellowship activities that promote positive attitudes, character and Christian Leadership. Under the guidance of the Youth Council, the youth and young adults of the church are involved in a variety of ministries that promote spiritual growth and a love for the Church of Jesus Christ.

The Ministry has the following components:

  • Choir and Ushers - provide the opportunity to participate and lead morning worship services.

  • Activities - allow for fellowship opportunities through activities such as bowling, skating, movies, cooking classes, fellowship dinners, trips, sleep overs, fun night, October Fest.

  • Drama - encourages Bible learning through script and characterization. It promotes team spirit and commitment.

  • Praise and Liturgical Dance - ministers through interpretative dance.

New Member Orientation

This ministry is designed to help the new members of the church take the first steps toward meaningful involvement in the life and ministry of the church. Its goal is to encourage and equip each new member to transition in to the life of a Christian and member of Messiah.

Its objectives include:

  • To establish who you are as a Christian and new member

  • To determine what the church is and what it does

  • To show how the Messiah is organized and how it accomplishes its work

  • To determine what you as a new member can do within the life and ministry of the church

Ushers & Greeters

The Ushers and Greeters ministry play an important role in the church service for we are usually the first persons a worshipper meet as they enter the sanctuary.  It’s our purpose and desire to make everyone feel welcome so we extend a hearty enthusiastic greeting and assist with seating.  We also maintain a watchful eye so that we can attend to the needs of the congregation.

Pastor's Aid

The Pastor’s Aid ministry acknowledges and provides assistance to the Pastor and his family. This is accomplished by assisting the Pastor with ministering to the disabled, hospital visitation, support of our youth at and in school functions, comforting families suffering the loss of a loved one and ensuring that funds are raised to provide for the personal needs of the Pastor and his family.

Music Ministry

Music at Messiah holds a very special and edifying place in the lives of the congregation for it gives attention to three vital areas, worship, training and evangelism. Worship means that God is given “the glory, praise, honor and thanks due Him, both for who He is and for what He has done.” Training builds and strengthens the body of Christ and aid in spiritual maturation. Evangelism is the act of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the unsaved. The Holy Scriptures encourages us to always have a song in our hearts.

Our music ministry will also help provide an opportunity for individuals to explore their gifts and talents that God has given them. We have anointed choirs for all ages, and skillful musicians who allow the Holy Spirit to have His way as they play upon the instruments which edifies their individual gifts.

Sunday School

The Sunday Church School is the teaching agent of the fellowship.  Jesus taught His disciples and left to them and those to follow the great commission: “Go therefore into all the world, teaching all nations to observe all things”.  The Sunday School doesn’t just teach scripted lessons, but moral and spiritual insight to practical living.

The annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) falls under the teaching umbrella of the Sunday School. VBS is held every summer, placing special emphasis on fellowship, and teaching and evangelizing to the youth and adults of the church and the community.
